An Overview of the Student Employment System

The Student Employment System is a user interface that connects to PeopleSoft. It was built with a similar design to the COLTS time collection system. When you want to do a job action (also called a transaction) you will enter the search in the Student Employment System based on Social Security Number, Net ID, or PeopleSoft ID. The Student Employment System goes to the PeopleSoft HR/Payroll system, which finds the student's record and supplies the information for the Student Employment System to display. You will then complete the fields needed for the job action, and press Save. The Student Employment System sends this new information to PeopleSoft, which creates a new row and enters the information on the record. So as you can see, the Student Employment System connects to PeopleSoft, but you are not working directly in PeopleSoft.
